I’ve been facing a mad rush against time the last few weeks/months – Knowing that Little Lammo would be making an appearance this summer, I wanted to make sure that everything is up to date. That meant rushing out a site that I had planned on soft-launching over the course of a year. So, the last 2 months have seen me adding content like a man possessed – I’ve spent so much time in WordPress I’ve forgotten what the outside world looks like!
The site in questions is Away Grounds – a guide to every football stadium in the UK. To start with, I’ve covered the 92 English league grounds. Scottish and non-league grounds will follow once we’re in a routine with Little Lammo. As I said, I had planned to launch the site mid-season with a slow trickle of stadiums going in there, however with life as I know it potentially ending any day now, my hand has been forced somewhat!
Well, I’ve finally finished today, thankfully before Little Lammo pops out, but I could really do with some help to get the site off to a flying start – if you’re able to help with any of the following, please let me know – eternal gratitude and instant karma await you!
Adding Reviews
The key thing that sets this site apart from similar websites is the ability for users to add their own reviews of stadiums/grounds they’ve been to. The hardest part about using UGC though is sparking the reviews off – I’ve added some reviews for the grounds I’ve been to, but it would be really, really great if you’ve been to a ground and wouldn’t mind leaving a comment on the relevant page with some advice for future fans – Of course you could always leave tips on your own teams stadium (as long as you’re honest about the fact it’s your own team), as local knowledge of where to park/drink etc can be invaluable.
As a little thank you for this, anyone that adds a decent number of reviews for grounds they’ve been to can tap me up for some beers at the next event I go to.
Twitter/Facebook
Social Media is going to be a huge tool to help grow this site, but getting started it the hardest part. So if you’re feeling kind, then please follow us on Twitter, where we’ll be dishing out some great footie banter (don’t worry, there’ll be no hard-sell), and/or join our page on Facebook, where you can upload photos and videos of your away trips.
Spreading the word
If you’ve got a football related site/forum/blog, then I’d really appreciate any help spreading the word about the site, particularly with regards to getting real people to add their reviews of the grounds. I’m not going to add fake reviews just to bump up the content – I only want real, useful reviews from real people.
Thanks in advance – I really need your help here!

Hello mate, I should be able to add quite a few for non-league, and will post your new site as and where I can in the non-league world!
Cheers matey – I’ll be sure to ping you for advice on the non-league grounds. Good Luck to the mighty Welling United for the forthcoming season!

Nice idea and simple implementation. Getting things going is always slow sadly. Give it a year. Or two
