The most useful tool for any affiliate marketer, The Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool, appears to have been broken since the early evening of yesterday, and is currently displaying no suggestions whatsoever for any terms at all.
The tool is used by many thousands of marketeers worldwide, and is IMO, invaluable. Of all the many tools and widgets I tend to use, the OT Tool is the only one I tend to use several times a day, every day. It’s my first point of reference when researching any are for potential keywords.
Hopefully, this is just a glitch, and the tool will be back working again very soon, or else my working day is going to get a hell of a lot slower! Sure, it times out on you 2 out of 3 times, lists phrases in the wrong order, and doesn’t distinguish between singular and plural, even when they have very different meanings, but it’s still the best damn keyword tool out there. It also powers SEObook which is a preferred resource of many. Without it, our jobs is a hell of a lot tougher.
Personally, I’m going to treat this as I would the computer system going down when I was in the Civil Service – You can’t work properly, so either head to the pub, or tidy your desk and look busy – Someone from IT will be on the case somewhere, and we’ll all breathe a sigh of relief when it starts working again.

Hey John,
Nothing to worry about. I was on the phone to Yahoo earlier today and it’s just some kind of technical problem they are having. They said they haven’t pulled the plug just yet and it’ll be up asap. I do wonder how long this will last as an external tool though before they move it or create something different within Panama itself.
Cheers
Paul
Glad to hear it will be back up. We just spent a lot of time building a new project this week and only got to use the tool for a few hours before it went belly up! Not fun at all.. I am looking forward to a more permanent and accurate solution, even if it takes a bit more effort to use.
Hi Paul,
That’s excellent news – I do hope they can get it back up soon, as I’ve been forced to sit out in the sun in the garden with a book this afternoon, rather than slave in front of my pc doing keyword research – The hardship I tells ya!
I’m sure they will bring it “in-house”, or at least brand it before too long – Perhaps they’ve just pulled it down for a day or two to see how much people miss it, and therefore how valuable it is to them, or I could just be a cynic
I did realize how much I used the overture tool until the thing went down! It is good to hear it will be back up!
Have heard today that the tool is gone for good – Strange that there’s been no official comment from Yahoo about this yet.
Now what am I supposed to do – every other keyword tool I’ve found has been far too US-centric – We need a decent UK one!
Well, the best news I’ve heard all week – IT’S BACK! Hopefully for good, this time! Now excuse me, I’m off to get researching…
