Cheers John/Sam.

Nothing to do with money making on this one!

This was to do with a post citing medical info that needs to be 100% spot on in its content. Citing in blockquote seemed the most sensible option, interspersed with unique content to critique.

Excellent point Sam - Don't include content from elsewhere unless it serves a purpose on your site (eg to help close a sale, or help a user make a purchase decision), rather than to bulk out your thin content.

I think if you are getting content from anywhere else other than yourself you should read it carefully and make the judgement whether you think this is going to help your site to make money and gain readers is the most important decision you need to make. If you wouldn't read it then chances are other people aren't going to be interested either.

Hi Steve,

I don't think quoting is going to be too much of a problem, as long as you quote within blockquote tags, and the quote isn't the entire substance of the post, ensuring that the majority of the page contains unique content.

Hi John.

What’s your take on citation from other sources? For example, it may be an excerpt from a speech, or medical information that needs to reflect the original text word for word.

Will the block quote function be sufficient enough to prevent Google penalising what is essentially duplicate content?

Cheers.
